In recent months, the police has started using “Skunk” , a crowd control weapon commonly used by the army against protesters in the West Bank, in east Jerusalem. "Skunk”, is a water cannon that sprays the protesters with an odious liquid, leaving a stench that remains for many days. "Skunk" is used in East Jerusalem against the rules and not always to disperse demonstraters. Residents say that Skunk is used at night when there are no demonstrations, and that the odious liquid is sprayed on buildings, houses and shops.
